Make a long story short, we undogged the hatch to the armory. The men carrying shotguns stated that they were firing, bouncing shot off the ceiling and deck though the partially opened door before entering. The Lt.s face went pale. “But…I’m supposed to be in there!” The reply: “Yes sir. You are expendable. This is the armory. Everyone dies that is not one of us. Sorry sir.”

Never had another drill while he was OOD.
The best way I can think of to “LT-proof” the armory is to simply transfer all the LTs away…

No, you need to protect people from LTs.
