Why so Grumpy?
Today’s strip is a belated reference to an August 2012 Army Times article.
“The research, conducted by German scientists and a Washington University of St. Louis psychology professor, found that young men who enlisted in the military not only were less agreeable — and less neurotic — to begin with than their civilian counterparts, but they stayed that way long after they hung up their uniforms.”
What do you guys think? Are you grumpier thanks to Uncle Sam?

Nope, not grumpy — at least according to the family. The occasional troop might have said different…
Who the heck are you to call me Grumpy? I’m glad there is a new strip though…
Define grumpy
Would say cranky not grumpy. From 19 year old draftee, through a bunchaton of service, now into geezerhood -definitely less than agreeable. As were most of my mates.

between the lines, “and less neurotic…” which doth confund some playing at denying second amendment rights, cause grumpy hasn’t a DSM 9 code for any psychiatric disorder.
the military didn’t make me grumpy. I was naturally grumpy so I joined the military!
The only naturally grump NCO I ever dealt with was our idiot Plt Sgt at Ft Campbell, E-7 who had a perm profile against everything but couldn’t be removed from service without an act of Congress.
I am probably one of the most even-tempered people I know – and it drives the handbrake batty that I don’t get enthusiastic about much of anything.
Anyone ever watch Stargate SG-1? Remember Teal’c? Essentially me – big, quiet, lots of undercurrent, and usually pretty damned dangerous,
Teal’c – (monotone) “I believe the Aschen would make excellent allies.”
O’Neill – “And if THAT little outburst didn’t convince you…”
Hammond – “I’m convinced!”
@west_rhino – Did you mean an “ICD-9″ or a “DSM-IV, revised:”? (Side note – I still have a hard time believing there’s actually an ICD-9 for “Non-dependent occasional tobacco use.” Gimme a break – I’ve had a headache for five and a half years, the only things that work on it are caffeine and nicotine!)
Yup and grumpy isn’t exactly specified. symptoms so related are, but that’s the Catch-22. Ask Doc Daneeka.
